When I say that Zep is a Once-in-a-lifetime dog, I really mean it. Since getting injured in February I had been working on nothing but body awarness, foundation excersises and VERY low jump grids. This has allowed him the time to recoup and also gain back much of the confidence he lost after the injury. Zep has never been a well jumping dog. He was a significant bar knocker in his earlier career. Since getting injured I was worried that he would get worse. That being said, in the last 7 months Zep went from a 80% bar taker to almost NO bars :) He debuted at the Dogz Trial in late July. I entered him in Steeplechase just to see where our skills were at and see how his jumping would look under pressure. As I was comming to the startline I was ready to puke, I was so scared. I kept thinking " am I pushing him, Is it too soon???" with all this running through my head I lead out. The rest of the run is still a bit of a blur. Not only did he finish the run with NOT ONE bar down , but he placed 2nd overall with a Q!!!! I started crying as we were leaving the ring and the judge came over to see what was wrong. I was just so proud at that moment. All Zep could think about was going for a swim ;) This dog has taught me so much in the last few months and we have become closer than ever.
Since that trial we have done other events. Check out his progress below.

July 31st: 1 Q Steeplechase
Aug 8-9: 3 Q's- 1 Starters Standard, 1 Starters Gamblers, 1 Starters Snookers
Aug 16th: 2 Qs-1 Starters Standard & 1 Starters Jumpers
Early 2009
Zep will be taking most of this year to recover from an injury. In order to keep his mind busy I began training him in Rally-O. He competed in his first trial in April. Not only did he blow away the competition, he really impressed the judges. He earned 3 Q's, 2 First place finishes, and a PERFECT 200 score!!! At his second trial he also earned his first Adv Q!
Summer 2008
This summer has been pretty crazy for Zep and I. He has been working ever so hard at his training and is comming along great! He has managed to earn a starters team, stardard, and gamble q. He has also earned 2 CDDA legs! Zep will be spending his winter getting ready for a new agility/disc season!!
March & May 2008: Zep makes his agility debut. Not only did he tear up the courses he manages to get a Q in gamble at his first ever trial! In May he runs his first ever Team run with his best bud Kolby and they manage a PERFECT run with 30 seconds to spare!! Adding another Q to his roster!
August 25: Zep competes in the Open Freestyle class at the first ever USDDN Canadian Qualifier at the Ottawa SuperEx and places 2nd!
May 19, 2007: Zep competes at his first CDDA trial. He finally gets his RPT and places 2nd in the freestyle category!
PERSONALITY: When I decided to get a third dog I decided on a Border Collie because I wanted to do all these fun dog sports. Little did I know that Zep would teach me so much about this breed. Zephlyn is not one of those BC's that people refer to with a "Built in off switch". Zep is a 24/7 dog. I never have to ask him if he wants to work . He is always ready. He is also one of those dogs that will test his limits. If you do not set VERY clear rules for him then he will get himself into big trouble. Zep is also an extremely confident dog. He requires everyone to know when he has entered the room. Zep is also my soul dog. He is very tuned into my moods and feelings. If i am upset he is my constant shadow. He always knows when mum needs and snuggle.
COAT & BUILD: Zephlyn is what some breeders refer to as a "black" merle. The reason being is that his coat is much darker in pigment than some other "blue" merles. His coat is nice and thick with a beautiful mane. If you look closely you can also find a few spot of lilac in the merle. His build is classic. He is a very strong boned dog. Once full grown he will be approx 48 pounds and 22 inches tall. He is very agile and is an extremly fast dog. I hope that once full grown he will be stunning just like his daddy.
